Denver area school closings and delays for Thursday, April 11, 2019

DENVER -- It's not a snow day, but it's a start, right, kids? Here's the latest on school closures and delays following April's blizzard in Colorado.

A handful of school districts around the state have closed schools Thursday in the wake of Wednesday's blizzard.

Most of the districts that issued closures Thursday are in north and east Colorado. They include:

  • Bennett School District 29J
  • Briggsdale Schools Weld RE 10J
  • Byers School District 32-J
  • Deer Trail School District 26J
  • Strasburg District 31-J

Several local schools and school districts said they have issued delays Thursday morning.

Denver Public Schools is on a one-hour delay for schools that start after 8:30 a.m. Douglas County School District schools have a 90-minute delay due to the road conditions, and morning preschool and morning kindergarten classes are canceled. Littleton Public Schools, Aurora Public Schools and Weld Re-8 schools are on a one-hour delay.

Mullen High School is opening at 9:30 a.m. and Regis Jesuit High School is on a two-hour delay.
