Denver — A high cloud cover extends across the high country and the plains. The eastern plains highs in the upper 40s to mid 50s and the mountains had readings in the upper 30s to low 40s.
Tonight will be mostly cloudy and not a cold as recent nights. Lows will be in the upper 20s to middle 30s for lower elevations and teens to low 20s in the mountains - except colder in some of the high valleys where cold air is trapped near the surface.
Friday will be even warmer with highs in the middle 50s to near 60 degrees in Denver and in the 40s in the mountains.
A storm system that is now dumping a lot of rain and snow on California will weaken as it sweeps across Colorado on Saturday. This storm will bring snow to the mountains starting Friday night and continued through Saturday. Denver and the eastern plains will stay dry with a cooling trend and some gusty northwest winds.
Next week will start mild and dry, but turn colder with snow next Wednesday and Thursday.
