DENVER — Dry weather conditions will continue through Wednesday, along with warm temperatures. Expect highs in the upper 60s to middle 70s — about 7 to 10 degrees above normal - on the plains, with 50s to low 60s in the mountains.

Fire danger continues to be a concern due to the extremely dry conditions. The Lefthand Canyon Fire sparked Sunday, forcing evacuations in parts of Boulder County. Also, the Cameron Peak Fire, the Calwood Fire and East Troublesome Fire will continue to bring areas of widespread smoke to areas downwind of the flames.

Air Quality Alerts are in place for the majority of the Front Range.

Lows by Wednesday morning will be in the 30s and 40s in the mountains and foothills, while gusty west-northwest winds will be a concern for firefighting efforts over the northern and central mountain areas. Metro area lows will be in the upper 30s to middle 40s.

Dry and warm conditions can be expected again on Wednesday, with highs in the low to mid 70s under a mix of sun, high clouds and some smoke.

A cold front will move into Colorado late Wednesday and early Thursday. Cooler weather and light precipitation will be possible, but unfortunately not a good soggy storm. Temperatures will begin a cooling trend that will continue into next week.

A stronger and colder storm will move into Colorado by early Sunday with a good chance for rain and snow. At the present time, this storm does not appear to become a major snowstorm, but should bring several inches of snow to the fire areas Sunday and Monday.

Denver and the I-25 Corridor can expect snow on Sunday, mixed with some rain early and perhaps a few inches of snow by Monday morning.

Temperatures will turn sharply colder with lows dropping to the teens by Monday and Tuesday mornings!
