Fire danger high across eastern Colorado

DENVER -  Colorado will have some pretty mild weather for today.  Expect highs in the 60s and 70s, with plenty of sunshine for Saturday.

The warm, dry and breezy conditions mean that fire danger is high.  A number of fire weather warnings are in effect for all of southeastern Colorado..the eastern plains..and areas around Castle Rock and Castle Pines.

Temperatures will climb into the 40s and 50s in the mountains Saturday, with mid-60s to upper 60s for Denver.  Southeastern Colorado should see highs back to in the mid-70s to near 80 degrees.

Another cold front will move into Colorado late Sunday, bringing an increase in clouds and a chance for snow later in the day. The majority of snow will fall in the mountains. A Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect Sunday through Monday morning for our northern and central mountains, with around 4-8 inches of accumulation expected.

Temperatures Sunday in Denver will climb to the mid to upper 50s. Winds will be gusty, and there is a slight chance for a few late-day showers. Overnight lows drop to the 20s.

Monday will be cooler, with highs in the low 40s and gusty winds. A gradual warm-up is in store for the middle and end of the week. 50s and 60s are expected Wednesday through Friday.

Snow has been scarce this season with only seen 19.4" of snow at Denver International Airport - about half normal at this point in the season.

In the mountains, the snow-pack is roughly at 75% of normal for the season, with the southern mountain areas in the worst shape. The recent storms are helping, but we could use several more good snowstorms!
