Warmer weather expected in Denver the next few days

DENVER — The windy storm system is moving away from Colorado with lighter winds expected through Thursday.

The snow in the mountains will come to an end, but will be some slick driving conditions over the high mountain passes through early morning. Skiing should be excellent on Thursday with soft snow and sunshine.

Highs will be in the low to mid 50s Thursday for lower elevations, with 30s in the mountains. Skies will be sunny across the state.

Winter officially begins on Friday, but it’s not going to feel like it. It will be warm and dry with upper 50s to low 60s under a mostly sunny sky. In the mountains, get ready for spring skiing conditions with temperatures in the upper 30s to low 40s.

The weather pattern will shift a bit over the weekend, with colder temperatures and a better chance for fresh powder in the mountains. Denver will have highs back in the 40s with some flurries possible on Saturday.

Sunday and Monday (Christmas Eve) will be dry and mild — good weather for traveling. Christmas Day will start dry, but clouds will increase and some snow will develop later in the day.

It does appear that the weather will slip back into a more active pattern Christmas night and on the 26th with colder temperatures and a chance for snow in Denver!
