DENVER — As the middle of July nears, the temperatures are soaring! Highs hit the mid-to upper 90s over the plains, with mid-70s to low 80s in the mountains.

The warm temperatures in the high country have greatly accelerated the snow melt, rivers and streams are running high, fast and cold! Those mountain streams will be about the only thing running cold for the next several days.

Isolated thunderstorms have popped up in the mountains and across the eastern plains, but the storms are not going to become very widespread as the low level humidity is pretty low.

The storms will die away later tonight and skies will clear by morning. Lows will be in the low to mid-60s for lower elevations and 40s to low 50s in the mountains.

Hot and mainly dry weather will cover Colorado through Sunday. In early to mid July, there is almost always a slight chance for afternoon showers and thunderstorms, but the rain chances will only be in the 10-20% range.

There will be a greater chance for storms on Monday and Tuesday with slightly cooler temperatures.
