Storm that brought rain, snow and strong winds moves out of Colorado

DENVER — The soggy storm that brought 4 to 8 inches of snow to the mountains and an inch of rain to the plains is leaving Colorado!

Along with the moisture, strong winds whipped across the state with gusts over 100 mph in Akron early Tuesday. The winds will diminish tonight as the storm swirls farther away from Colorado.

The moisture was welcome for our parched plains, even if the damaging winds were not. The next several days will be dry and quiet statewide, just a few thunderstorms may develop over the weekend.

Temperatures will be chilly early Wednesday with upper 20s and low 30s in the mountains and upper 30s to low 40s for Denver and the eastern plains.

Wednesday will be sunny and warmer with lighter winds. Highs will be in the 60s in the mountains and 70s in Denver and over eastern Colorado. The western valleys will reach the low 80s around Montrose and Grand Junction.

Thursday will be warmer, with highs in the 70s in the mountains and 80 on the plains.

Friday through early next week will be very pleasant! Mostly sunny and warm with just a slight chance for an afternoon thunderstorm - mainly Saturday and Sunday. Highs will be in the 70s to around 80 in the mountains and upper 80s to low 90s for lower elevations.
