For most of the Front Range, it was a moderate snowstorm. Snow totals ranged from nearly a foot in the foothills of Jefferson County, to around 5 inches in the Denver area. The skies will clear overnight with cold temperatures by morning. Expect lows of 5 to 10 below zero in the mountain valleys and in the single digits and low teens for the Denver area.
The biggest snow totals from this storm actually hit the eastern plains. The small town of Bethune reported two feet of snow and just a bit farther east, Burlington had 20 inches! A narrow band of heavy snow stalled over the eastern plains and dropped some of the heaviest snow in a couple years - a lucky break for the drought stricken plains!
Sunshine returns Wednesday and highs will climb to the upper 30s and low 40s in Denver and across the plains, helping to melt snow off the road surfaces. In the mountains, temperatures will be in the middle 20s to low 30s under a partly cloudy sky.
Another storm will bring more light snow to the Denver metro area on Thursday. This next storm should not be a much of a snow producer, but could bring 1 to 3 inches of snow to the region. However, this next storm will eventually build into a major winter storm for the Northeast states over the weekend with heavy snow likely over New England.
Dry and mild weather will return to Colorado for the weekend through Monday. There will be another chance for some snow next Tuesday.
