DENVER — A cold front has raced across Colorado and brought fresh snow to the mountains and strong winds for the plains. Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for the Park Range near Steamboat Springs for around 4 to 8 inches of snow.

Snow is falling in the northern and central mountains and will continue through early tonight. Winds will blow strong from the northwest as the cold front pushes to the east of Colorado.

This type of fast-moving system rarely brings much snow to Denver or the eastern plains, but flurries and a few rain showers can be expected into this evening with no accumulation expected.

High temperatures reached the low to mid 50s in Denver and the low 60s over southeastern Colorado, just ahead of the cold front. In the mountains, temperatures are chilly — just in the 20s to low 30s with that cold northwest wind.

Skies will clear across the state tonight and it will be a cold one! Lows will drop to 5 below to 5 above in the mountains and be in the teens to low 20s for Denver and the eastern plains.

Wednesday will be sunny and mild across Colorado with lighter winds. Highs will be in the upper 40s to low 50s in the Denver area and in the low 30s in the mountains.

Another cold front may bring some light snow to the mountains on Thursday, while the weather stays dry in Denver.

A third cold front will arrive on Saturday. This one will be stronger and colder and should bring a few inches of snow to the Denver area.
