DENVER — This storm system has hammered the northern and central mountains and hit the metro area pretty hard as well!

Winter Storm Warnings will expire for the mountains along and north of I-70 after the storm dumped 1 to 3 feet of new snow! Along with the snow, strong winds have made travel difficult to impossible in the high country.

The storm also hit the Denver area and I-25 Corridor with 6 to 12 inches of snow. Farther to the east, little or no snow fell in areas as close as Fort Morgan!

The snow will end tonight and skies will become partly cloudy with some areas of fog developing. Lows will be in the teens to low 20s.

Skies will be mostly sunny on Saturday as the storm moves east of Colorado. Highs should return to the 40s on the plains, with some 50s farther to the east where snow did not accumulate. In the mountains, expect sunshine in the morning and increasing clouds in the afternoon with highs in the low 30s in the mountains.

More snow will hit starting Saturday night and continuing on Sunday with at least 6 more inches for the mountains and 2 to 4 inches in the Denver area. Highs will be in the 20s in the mountains and low to mid-30s for Denver.

Monday will be chilly with lingering flurries.

Skies will clear again Tuesday with highs near 40 degrees, but more snow and cold will arrive for late Wednesday and Thursday.
