It has been a hot start to September. We broke a record high yesterday when we hit 99 degrees at D.IA. The previous record was 93 degrees, set back in 2018.
Today, we got up to 97 degrees breaking the record of 93 for Denver at DIA.
Above normal temperatures are also expected across the mountains, with highs in the uppers 70s to low 80s. There will be some scattered thunderstorms across higher terrain and over the plains this afternoon, which could produce gusty winds and lightning.
A weak cold front will move in tonight, bringing cooler temperatures on Sunday. Highs will be in the 80s Sunday and Monday, before a cool down Tuesday.
Showers and highs in the 70s are likely in Denver Tuesday, with dry and pleasant, more seasonal, weather returning Wednesday through the end of the week.
