The weather pattern will be rather unsettled for the Fourth of July weekend as showers and thunderstorms will be possible each day through Monday. The best chances will be on Friday, but plan on some wet weather each, especially in the mountains.

Tonight there will be a few thunderstorms over the mountains and scattered across the plains. Lows will stay mild with readings in the 50s to near 60 for lower elevations and 40s to low 50s in the mountains and foothills.

Highs will be in the upper 70s to the lower 80s Friday. Thunderstorms will become likely by early to mid-afternoon and continue into the evening.

The weekend will be warmer again with more scattered afternoon thunderstorms. Highs will be in the 80s. By Monday, highs will be back to around 90 degrees with lower rain chances for the Fourth of July.

In the mountains, afternoon thunderstorms are expected with highs in the 60s - but during thunderstorms, readings will drop to the 50s and even upper 40s - dress in layers and include rain gear!

Hotter and drier weather will return to Colorado next week.
