Heavy snow will hit the Colorado High Country through early Christmas morning. A powerful Pacific storm system will dump one to three FEET of snow over the mountains. Only a little light rain or snow is expected for Denver and the eastern plains.

We have only seen 3/10 of an inch of snow officially in Denver. By the end of December, we are typically looking at around 20 inches of snow.

Winter Storm Warnings cover the mountains until early Christmas morning. Accumulations of 12-36" of snow will be possible over that time frame, with the heaviest snow in the central and southwest mountain areas.

Be very careful if you are traveling on Friday in the mountains- visibility may be low and roads snow-packed.

Temperatures will also dip a few degrees, but we're still looking at 50s for afternoon highs on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

The longer term weather pattern will be shifting next week and finally bring some cold and snow to Denver and the eastern plains by Tuesday or Wednesday!
