DENVER — Scattered showers and thunderstorms will diminish.

Most of the storms will be over after midnight with skies becoming partly cloudy by morning. Lows will be in the upper 50s to mid-60s on the plains and in the 40s to low 50s in the mountains,

More thunderstorms and slightly cooler weather can be expected for Saturday and Sunday. Highs will drop back to the mid-to upper 80s in the Denver area. In the mountains, afternoon storms will be likely with highs in the middle 70s to low 80s. One caveat, temperatures in the mountains will briefly drop into the 50s during thunderstorms and watch out for lightning!

Hotter and drier weather will return early next week with highs back into the low to mid-90s for Denver and the eastern plains.
