Our 7-day forecast is a little lopsided. We're starting the week off with some pretty mild weather, but a few days before Christmas...it turns bitter cold!
We'll see a mostly sunny sky and highs in the upper 50s by 3 p.m. Mostly sunny and dry in the high country as well, with temperatures in the 30s and low 40s. Temperatures will stay in the 50s and even low 60s through Wednesday.
Winter officially starts at 9:28 a.m. MST on Thursday and it's definitely going to feel like it! The JET STREAM will bring cold air in from Canada and perhaps some significant snow to Colorado! It's still a few days away, but be prepared for a big change in the weather through the holiday weekend. \
Highs starting on Thursday will be in the low to mid 20s with snow. It will warm up a few on Friday, but then plummet for the weekend. It looks like we'll see highs in the teens on Saturday and Sunday, with overnight lows near zero!
The official snowfall at DIA has been 3.2 inches this season. By mid December, Denver would typically see around 18 inches of snow...so we are still well below normal.
By the way, Wednesday (Dec. 20) we will be featuring our "HOLIDAY HOTLINE" from 4 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Meteorologists from Metro State will be in the studio to provide FREE, custom weather forecasts to help you with your Christmas travel plans! Stay tuned for details next week.
