Friday will begin with mild temperatures and sunny to partly cloudy skies. Morning lows will be in the low 60s in Denver with upper 40s to middle 50s in the mountains and foothills.
Clouds will begin to develop in the late morning with another round of showers and thunderstorms expected in the afternoon. It looks like the main focus for thunderstorms will be over the mountains and southern portions of the state, where locally heavy rainfall is expected.
Denver and the northeast plains will have thunderstorms again Friday afternoon, but they are not expected to be quite as widespread. Highs will be a little warmer than on Thursday - in the upper 80s to low 90s.
The unsettled weather pattern will continue into the weekend with more showers and thunderstorms possible through Sunday. High temperatures will remain a bit below normal — in the mid to upper 80s.
The atmosphere will gradually warm up and dry out over the weekend into early next week, temperatures will pop back into the low 90s and the rain chances will drop a bit.
