DENVER –  A FIRST ALERT ACTION DAY will continue through 10 PM Saturday for much colder air, dense fog, freezing drizzle and snow. Roads will be slippery - especially during the day Saturday.

Freezing drizzle and fog will become all snow Friday night and early Saturday as the colder air spills  across the state. Temperatures will drop to the teens Saturday morning and stay in the 20s during the day.

In the Denver area, snow will likely accumulate to 2-4 inches, while 3 to 6 inches will be likely in the foothills and 5 to 10 inches in the mountains.  Most of the state should get some snow from this cold front as it pushes into New Mexico by Saturday evening.

Skies will clear from north to south across Colorado Saturday night.  Sunday will be chilly with sunny to partly cloudy skies.  Highs will be in the 30s to low 40s for lower elevations and 30s in the high country.

Monday will be cool, but dry with highs in the 40s on the plains and 30s in the mountains.  Temperatures will moderate through the middle of the week as temperatures bounce back the mid-50s by Wednesday.

Although the snow will make for some slick conditions, we could use it!  So far, we've only seen 13.2" of snow at Denver International Airport and that's less than half of what we see in a normal season.

In the mountains, the snow-pack is roughly at 60% of normal for the season, with the southern mountain areas in the worst shape.  We could use a few good snowstorms!
