Winter Storm Warnings continue for the central and northern mountains for 6"-12" of snow. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for parts of the northern mountains and even onto the plains around Fort Collins for 3 to 6 inches of snow.
After highs near 70 degrees on Sunday, temperatures were just in the teens Monday afternoon - a drop of over 55 degrees in 24 hours!
It is going to be very cold tonight, with lows dropping to the single digits above and below zero over northeastern Colorado! Windchill values will make it feel even colder by early morning - 15 to 20 degrees below zero on exposed skin! Stay warm!
The metro-area and plains should see 1 to 3 inches of snow by early Tuesday, with up to 6 inches possible north of Denver, up to the Wyoming border. Roads will be snow packed and slippery in spots.
Tuesday will stay very cold with a couple more inches of snow possible in the mountains and some flurries on the eastern plains. Highs will be in the upper teens to low 20s for Denver and the northeast plains, with 20s to low 30s in the mountains.
Tuesday night will be cold again, with clearing skies and single digit low temperatures. Expect sunshine on Wednesday with highs in the mid-30s. Milder weather returns for the end of the week.
SNOW UPDATE: So far, we've only seen 16.5" of snow at Denver International Airport and that is about half normal at this point in the season. In fact, we would need about 20 inches of snow before the end of February to hit our normals for the season.
In the mountains, the snow-pack is roughly at 70% of normal for the season, with the southern mountain areas in the worst shape. The recent storm is helping, but we could use several more good snowstorms!
