DENVER — It was a toasty start to the week. Temperatures soared over 90 degrees by lunch, with some triple-digit heat across the plains. The highs hit 106 degrees on the eastern plains in the town of Wray! It was better in the high country with readings in the 70s and 80s.

Dry conditions remain for most of Colorado with increased fire danger and gusty winds.
There will be a cold front sliding across Colorado overnight, but it will come through with very little precipitation.

On Tuesday, in the wake of the front, temperatures will drop highs in Denver to the low 80s with lighter winds. Sadly there will be very little moisture - just a few light afternoon thunderstorms over the northern mountains and northeast plains. Some severe storms will be possible farther east in Kansas and Nebraska.

The weather will be warmer on Wednesday, with highs in the upper 80s. By Thursday, highs will be back in 90s for the remainder of the week.

As of now, our Fourth of July holiday weekend is looking mostly sunny and toasty! Highs will be near 90 both Saturday and Sunday, with the slight chance for scattered afternoon and evening storms. Stay tuned!
