DENVER — Dry and windy weather conditions continued Wednesday, along with warm temperatures. Highs hit in the upper 60s to middle 70s — about 7 to 10 degrees above normal — on the plains, with 50s to low 60s in the mountains.

Fire danger continues to the extremely dry conditions. The Lefthand Canyon Fire, the Cameron Peak Fire, the Calwood Fire and East Troublesome Fire continue to bring areas of widespread smoke to areas downwind of the flames.

Air Quality Alerts are in place for the majority of the Front Range.

A Red Flag Warning is in effect for our northern mountains and Front Range foothills. Gusty west-northwest winds will be a concern for firefighting efforts.

A cold front will move into Colorado tonight and early Thursday. Cooler weather and light precipitation will be possible, but unfortunately not a good soggy storm. Highs Thursday will be in the low to upper 60s across the Denver area.

A stronger and colder storm will move into Colorado by early Sunday with snow! At the present time it appears this storm could bring 6 to 12 inches of snow to the fire areas Sunday and Monday.

Denver and the I-25 Corridor can expect 3 to 6 inches snow on Sunday along with much colder temperatures. Highs on Sunday will be around 30 degrees early in the day and fall into the teens by the 4th quarter of the Bronco game!

Temperatures will drop to the low teens by Monday and Tuesday mornings!
