DENVER -- A fast moving cold front brought a quick shot of stormy weather to Denver, the Front Range and the Northeast Plains late Tuesday. Rain, thunder, snow and strong winds rushed through the region and moved out by late evening.
The precipitation came down hard, but did not last very long, so most areas saw only a quick shot of wet weather. Snowfall was a couple inches in the mountains and foothills and over southern suburbs above 6,000 feet.
Lows will drop to the lower 30s by morning, with 20s in the mountains with mostly cloudy skies and a few lingering snow showers.
Some clouds will linger into the morning hours on Wednesday, followed by gradually clearing skies. It will be cool, with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s for Denver and in the upper 40s to low 50s in the mountains.
Sunshine and warmer weather can be expected on Thursday, with highs around 70 degrees.
Friday will be cooler again as a weak cold front passes through the state. Highs will be in the upper 50s.
Saturday will be sunny, mild and pleasant with highs near 70 degrees. Another cold front will arrive on Sunday with cooler weather and a chance for showers in the afternoon.
Early next week will be cool with highs staying in the mid-to upper 50s.
