DENVER — The early summer heat will take a brief break as a cold front will usher in some cooler and wetter weather on Friday.

The storms near Denver will mostly stay below severe levels through this evening, but a few of the stronger storms will produce half inch hail and 50 mph winds until around midnight. Skies will become partly cloudy by early Friday, with higher humidity and even a little patchy fog in low lying areas.

There will be a short period of cooler weather - a nice change from the highs in the 90s! Friday will be cooler with readings in the upper 70s to low 80s for Denver and the northeast plains. S

The higher surface humidity, combined with an upper air disturbance crossing the central Rockies will bring a better chance for strong to severe thunderstorms over eastern Colorado

Saturday will be in the middle to upper 80s with a good chance for afternoon thunderstorms, although severe storms will not be as likely.

By Sunday and early next week, the weather will return to hot and mostly dry.
