DENVER — Tuesday was another record-tying day for Denver with a high of 97 degrees. This afternoon was slightly less hot with highs in the low 90s, but hotter days are coming for the end of the week.

There is plenty of smoke and haze in the skies across Colorado, courtesy of the two large wildfires in the western part of the state.

Fire danger is high, especially across the Western Slope where relative humidity is below 15 percent and winds are gusting over 30 mph. With highs in the upper 90s, there is no relief for firefighters.

So far, there have been 52 days of 90-degree-plus heat in Denver, placing 2020 in the top 20 list of most 90-degree days in Denver. The record for 90 degree days in 73, set in the sizzling summer of 2012.

Some slight relief from the heat will arrive this Sunday and Monday with a chance for thunderstorms and highs in the upper 80s.
