DENVER —
Skies will be clear to partly cloudy through early Friday, with a few showers and thunderstorms possible over southern Colorado. Lows will be in the upper 50s to mid-60s for lower elevations and in the 40s to low 50s in the mountains.
Friday will be windy and warm, just ahead of a cold front that will sweep across the state in the afternoon. Highs will reach the middle 80s in Denver and lower 90s over southeastern Colorado. The air will be quite dry, so only a few thunderstorms are expected.
Thanks to the cold front, the weekend will turn cooler and remain dry — just beautiful mid-September weather! Highs in the 70s for Denver with plenty of sunshine. In the mountains, expect 60s to low 70s and bright blue skies!
The aspen leaves are changing in the mountains, but they are a little late this season so far. The recent warm weather has delayed the foliage a bit, but soon the aspen trees will really glow in the high country! Here's where to go to see the beautiful fall foliage.
