DENVER – If you’re enjoying the nice weekend, soak it all in as much as you can because temperatures will be dropping by about 30 degrees as you start your work week.

A storm system that’s swirling in the southwestern U.S. will bring some rain and snow over southwestern Colorado late Sunday night into Monday morning.

As Monday rolls around, colder weather and some snowfall can be expected. While models disagree at this point how much moisture this storm will bring, we could see up to six inches of snow for the northern mountains and lesser amounts south of I-70.

Highs will be in the upper 30s for Monday, with lows in the teens or low 20s overnight. Temperatures will increase to the upper 40s by Tuesday and for the rest of the work week.

A First Alert Action Day has been issued for Sunday night into Monday morning as this storm system moves in.

This system is not expected to affect traffic along the Denver metro area.
