Afternoon highs were in the 90s on Sunday afternoon- officially 94 degrees at DIA.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be moving through the metro area tonight. We aren't expecting severe storms, but there will still be some heavy rain and lightning possible.
We'll see drier weather as the weather pattern shifts. On Tuesday, a change in wind patterns will bring in drier air. This means we'll have mostly clear skies and warm temperatures, similar to Monday. Expect highs in the mid to upper 80s on the eastern plains and in the low 60s to 70s in the higher elevations.
By Wednesday, it will be a bit warmer, but still dry. A cold front is expected to move in on Thursday, which will drop temperatures by 8-10 degrees, making it cooler than earlier in the week. Dry weather should continue through Saturday.
Looking further ahead, the overall trend suggests that the warm and dry conditions will continue into next weekend. With high pressure likely dominating, expect pleasant weather with temperatures that feel comfortable and no major storm systems on the horizon. This should make for a great end to the week, with plenty of sunshine and mild temperatures.
