DENVER – Two people were killed and three others were injured following a two-vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 70 Sunday morning.

The Denver Police Department tweeted about the crash at around 2:36 a.m.

Police said a silver sedan was in the left lane and a dark sedan was in the center late when the silver sedan left its lane and crashed with the dark sedan, causing both vehicles to roll, according to Denver Police Department spokesperson Doug Schepman.

Three people were inside the dark sedan; a man and a woman - both passengers - died at the scene, Schepman said. A male driver was taken to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries. His current conditions is unknown at this time.

In the silver sedan, the driver and his passenger, a woman, were taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries. Their conditions are also unknown at this time.

Schepman said that, at this point in the investigation, the driver of the silver sedan is considered at-fault for the deadly crash.

"Impairment may be a factor in this crash," Doug said, before adding that it was still under investigation.

It's unclear if the driver of the silver sedan will be cited or arrested in connection with the crash.

Officials reported I-70 eastbound was closed at I-225 due to the crash for about four and-a-half hours.
