Kimberly from Central Park writes, “What's driving you crazy? I don't think the far right lane, (marked as a bike/parking lane) when going either east or west on E. 29th Avenue to Central Park Boulevard is a turn lane. There is no true "Turn lane," is there? The far "lane" is for parking and for bikes. Isn't this correct? Can the city put up a "no turn lane" sign or something going in both directions at E. 29th Avenue? Please advise. Thanks!”
Correct, correct, yes and it is in the works.
The way it is supposed to work when making a right turn from either eastbound or westbound 29th Avenue to Central Park is drivers should not enter the bike lane or parking lane and should turn directly from the travel lane. Even if that means you have to wait at the traffic light behind another driver before turning right.
To help encourage drivers to make the turn correctly, Denver’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure will make the current open bike lane a protected bike lane on Central Park Boulevard from Montview Boulevard to 36th Avenue.

That change should happen later this year through the Elevate Denver Bond Program.
The new bikeway will consist of bollards and new roadway striping to more clearly define the bike lane. The city expects the improvements will lower the stress of bike riders and reduce potential conflicts between bikes and cars.
