Stephanie Southey moved to Denver, Colorado, in June 2024 to join Denver7 as an assignment editor. She is a Peoria, Illinois, native who graduated in May 2018 from the University of Missouri’s School of Journalism with an emphasis in strategic communication.
Following graduation, Stephanie joined the marketing/promotions department at KOMU 8, the NBC affiliate in Columbia, Missouri, for two years, then transitioned to KOMU’s newsroom as digital content editor. There, she managed student digital journalists at the School of Journalism and guest lectured in multiple classes, as well as managed KOMU.com, the station’s streaming platforms and its social media accounts.
Stephanie found a passion for journalism throughout high school, shadowing the local anchors, taking classes geared toward broadcast journalism and anchoring the school news.
Stephanie is happy to be in Denver close to three of her best friends and is super excited to live in a city with five professional sports teams!
