KAPALUA, Hawaii — The PGA of America has voted to leave Trump National Golf Club for its PGA Championship event next year after supporters of President Donald Trump rioted during an insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday.

In 2014, the PGA had agreed to play the 2022 PGA Championship — one of the four "major" tournaments on the tour —at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey.

PGA CEO Seth Waugh says the board voted to strip Trump's club from hosting the tournament on Sunday night and had been discussing the move since Wednesday's riot.

The tour has not yet determined where the 2022 PGA Cahmpionship will now be hosted.

The PGA previously played its Senior PGA at a Trump course in 2017.

Also in 2017, the PGA moved what was then known as the WGC-Cadillac Championship from Trump's Doral Golf Resort in Florida to Mexico City. The move broke a 50-year streak of the tournament being played at Doral.
