DENVER -- Colorado Rockies' pitcher Chad Bettis has been diagnosed with testicular cancer, according to ESPN.

Bettis, 27, said his doctor noticed an abnormality and ordered more tests last month.

Bettis was diagnosed with cancer on Nov. 28 and had surgery the next day to remove one of his testicles.

"The surgeon is very confident that the cancer was isolated and has not spread and that my ability to have children should not be affected," Bettis said in a statement sent to ESPN.
