DENVER — The Thanksgiving football game between Colorado State and Air Force has been cancelled due to COVID-19 cases within the CSU program, officials announced.
The Mountain West matchup was scheduled for noon Thursday but was called off Wednesday afternoon. The game will be declared a no-contest and won't be rescheduled, CSU officials said.
The Mountain West is working on finding an opponent for Air Force this weekend but nothing has been finalized.
Seven CSU players are positive for COVID-19, the school said, out of 143 players on the roster. Two staff members have also tested positive and contact tracing was underway Wednesday. Nine additional players have been identified as close contacts with the positive cases and more contacts are being investigated, the school said.
This is the third cancelled or postponed game for both schools. Colorado State's opener against New Mexico was called off, along with their game last week against UNLV. Air Force's Nov. 7 game against Army was postponed and the Falcons' Nov. 14 matchup against Wyoming was cancelled.
