DENVER -- Von Miller reacted to Case Keenum's signing with exclamation points.
"Leeetttss Goooo!!!" he blared on Instagram.
He then added, "Time for me to hold up my end of the deal now."
It applied to many aspects. Despite constant double teams and being chipped more than Doritos, Miller believes he can improve following a 10 sack season. As face of the franchise, he serves as a leader, amplifying his connection to the locker room and front office.
Miller can help, then, off the field. He recently worked with the Broncos, converting $16 million of his $18.5 million base salary into a signing bonus, per an NFL source. It frees up $12.375 million in 2018 cap room. More importantly, it creates flexibility to add more players.
The Broncos are not done manipulating their roster. They are looking to add a right tackle, veteran tight end and secondary/cornerback help. Cornerback Delvin Breaux, last wth the New Orleans Saints, is expected to sign with the Broncos if he passes a physical. He broke his fibula twice and dealt with a shoulder injury in recent seasons. Broncos guard Ron Leary vouches for Breaux, his former Baton Rouge high school teammate, telling Denver7, "He has had some freaky injuries. But he can ball."
The top remaining free agent tackles are Cameron Fleming and Justin Pugh. Fleming finished the strong for New England. The Broncos brass, including general manager John Elway and advisor Gary Kubiak, continue to attend pro days. They were in Oklahoma on Wednesday watching quarterback Baker Mayfield and potential right tackle Orlando Brown. They will travel to UCLA on Thursday to watch quarterback Josh Rosen.
At tight end, Eric Ebron leads the class after the Lions cut him on Wednesday. The Broncos could also play on a veteran like Tyler Eifert or Brent Celek to pair with promising 2017 draft pick Jake Butt.
The Broncos have been busy the last few days, signing Keenum and nickel corner Tramaine Brock and retaining linebacker Todd Davis to a three-year, $15 million deal with $6 million guaranteed. The Broncos will hold a press conference for Davis on Thursday.
"Man I am so excited," Davis told Denver7. "I wanted to stay."
