It didn’t take long for former President Donald Trump and his campaign officials to pivot their attention to Vice President Kamala Harris following President Joe Biden’s announcement that he would no longer seek reelection and subsequent endorsement of Harris for the position.

"Harris will be even WORSE for the people of our Nation than Joe Biden," Trump’s campaign said in a statement.

However, Trump may not have always felt that way about Harris' leadership skills. Scripps News confirmed that Trump once donated to Harris’ reelection campaign while she was serving as attorney general in California in 2014.

According to records on the California Secretary of State's website, Trump donated a total of $6,000 in two separate contributions to “Re-elect Attorney General Kamala Harris 2014.”

Trump’s daughter, Ivanka also donated to Harris’ campaign, contributing $2,000 in 2014, the records show.

The former president acknowledged making financial contributions to Democrat campaigns in the past, stating at a rally in 2016, "I contribute to everybody. I’ve given to Democrats. I’ve given to Hillary. I’ve given to everybody, because that was my job," according to NPR and other outlets.

Harris made her first public appearance since announcing her run for president on Monday morning at the White House at an event honoring NCAA championship teams while President Biden is still recovering from a COVID-19 infection at his home in Delaware. She took the time to honor President Biden’s accomplishments in office during the event.
