GRANITE, Colo. — Crews from the Chaffee County Fire Protection District are responding to a wildfire burning west of Granite along Cache Creek.
The fire, called the Cache Creek Fire, was 4.5 acres as of 5 p.m., according to the Pike & San Isabel National Forests Cimarron & Comanche National Grasslands. It is burning 1.5 miles west of Granite along the river.
The fire was reported at 1:37 p.m. Thursday.
Below is the approximate location of the fire, according to the National Forest. The fire protection district said it is burning on federal public land.
Authorities are asking people to stay out of the area.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
