Thorp Fire in Park County at 159 acres, 50% contained

PARK COUNTY, Colo. — The Thorp Fire in Park County was at 159 acres and 50% contained on Tuesday morning, officials said.

The fire was reported Sunday afternoon off Forest Service Road 230 and Park County Road 31, west of Lake George and two miles southwest of Tarryall.

Mandatory evacuations were lifted for some areas near the fire, but those evacuations were lifted Monday evening.

The cause of the fire remains unknown. It was mostly burning through grass and timber. About 110 firefighters were working the fire Tuesday morning.
