Yes, these Broncos players announced they were being traded – but it was all a prank

Posted

DENVER – “Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me,” the proverb goes; and for a split second, we admit, we were fooled by not one – but two – Denver Broncos players this Sunday morning.

First on the list: Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller, who shared through Instagram that he had been traded to the Cleveland Browns.

“It’s been real Denver! The “Mile High City” and the @broncos will always have my heart! SB50 Champs! … @clevelandbrowns & @juice_landry what’s good!!!”

Broncos Country fans were not happy.

“Not even funny!,” said one of them. “I had a small heart attack…” commented another.

But to fans who may have forgotten, this isn’t the first time Miller has pulled this prank on fans on April Fool’s Day.

In 2017, Miller shared a similar post announcing he had been traded. Back then, the image was more believable as it appeared to be an ESPN graphic. Last year, the outside linebacker also did not specify which team he had been traded to, keeping the ruse alive for much longer.

But Miller wasn't the only one who wanted to fool a fan – or a thousand.

Emmanuel Sanders also shared through Instagram news that he had been traded to the Washington Redskins.

“Thank you Broncos nation for giving me so much love and support. I have decided to take my talents to Washington to join @jno24 in a quest to win Super Bowl 53. Washington we lit! I’m on the way.”

“This better be a joke” said one of his followers. “You and @vonmiller need to chill I woke up to this and thought about giving up on football lmao,” said another.

So rest easy Broncos Country, two of your favorite players are still on the team and they’re not leaving anytime soon.
