Byers firefighters get engaged after training exercise

Posted

DENVER -- We’re just days away from Valentine’s Day, but a firefighter with the Byers Fire Protection District could not wait until then to declare his unending love to the girl of his dreams.

On Sunday, the Sable Altura Fire Rescue posted two photos to their Facebook page, in which they described an unusual training that took place earlier.

“Our drillground has seen countless trainings and tests over the years but today's live burn that was hosted for Byers Fire Protection District was definitely a little bit different,” an official with the Sable Altura Fire Rescue said.

So, what was a little bit different this time around?

Two Byers firefighters got engaged after a training exercise!

SAFD firefighter Andrew can be seen in the photos kneeling on one leg, presenting a ring to firefighter Angie, who – based on the photos – was not expecting the declaration of love to take place at that precise moment.

The two can then be seen embracing and staring into each other’s eyes. We can only imagine what they were feeling at the time.

“SAFD would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to newly engaged Byers Firefighters Andrew and Angie!” the fire rescue official said.

Congratulations to the newly engaged couple!
