How will a Fort Collins busboy spend $1M?

Posted

A 33-year-old busboy who has reportedly been living on $10,000 a year just became the first person to ever take home the million-dollar prize on "American Ninja Warrior."

Isaac Caldiero told "MarketWatch" he owes $3,000 on his Subaru, but he doesn't really have any debt.

Caldiero also happens to be one of the best rock climbers in the world. He climbed 75 feet of rope in 26.14 seconds to make it to the top of "Mt. Midoriyama" in the finals of the NBC show. (Go 5:30 into the YouTube video.)

The amazing ascent made Caldiero a millionaire in a matter of seconds. Actually, it was 3.86 seconds that made the difference. Another competitor, Geoff Britten, was actually the first person to ever complete the course. Caldiero managed to complete the course - and did it 3.86 seconds faster.

"I found my impossible by becoming the 1st ever American Ninja Warrior Winner!!" Caldiero posted on Instagram after his victory.

-- Then and now

When he's not competing on ANW, Caldiero travels around in his 1978 Dodge Jamboree, climbing with his girlfriend, Laura Kisana.

Caldiero told "MarketWatch" he'll replace the engine in the RV, keep traveling with his girlfriend and share the money with his family. He also said he might "splurge" on a nice shirt.

Judging by his post on Instagram Wednesday, he went through with it.

Had a great night in #NYC ...Good friends are good to have! @mikecall @mikebbeck @laurakisana
