Taco truck appears outside Trump's campaign headquarters in Denver

DENVER -- We’ve seen all kinds of political stunts in the past, but this may be one of the tastiest.

On Thursday night, the founder of Latinos for Trump said some things a democratic councilman in Denver didn’t like, so he called for a “food fight.”

“We want to send a message today in response to the comments the Trump campaign issued,” said District 3 Denver City Councilman Paul Lopez.  

Lopez asked the Mestizos food truck to show up at the corner of 18^th and Clarkson, right in front of the Trump Headquarters, in response to comments the founder of the group Latinos for Trump made the night before on CNN.

“The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. My culture is a very dominant culture. And it's imposing, and it's causing problems. If you don't do something about it, you're going to have taco trucks on every corner," said Marco Gutierrez.

So that’s exactly what Lopez wanted people at Denver's Trump HQ to see.

He said while it may seem like a funny stunt, today’s unusual protest is actually very serious.

“These kind of comments are racist, and I think they really demonstrate where the Trump campaign is absolutely out of touch with the Latino community,” said Lopez.

The food truck fiasco comes on a busy week for the Trump campaign when it comes to immigration policies.

A day earlier, Trump met with Mexico’s president before a major immigration speech in Phoenix.

In that speech, Trump reiterated his vow to build a wall to prevent illegal immigrants from crossing the border and said Mexico would pay for it "100 percent."
