DENVER -- Colorado has a new political party. Earlier this summer, the Secretary of State’s office verified the Unity Party as a minor party in Colorado.

“Now with minor party status, Unity Party candidates do not have to petition onto the ballot,” Unity Party candidate for governor Bill Hammons told Nicole Brady on this weekend’s Politics Unplugged“We can now, by show of hands at our March assembly, place our candidates directly onto the ballot.”

Hammons also talked to Nicole about some of the things he would like to do if elected to the state’s highest office, including how the state is divided for congressional purposes.

“I think Colorado would be a great idea if we divided the state into seven districts each including a small portion of the city of Denver,” he said. “So that all members of the U.S. House represent the City of Denver and have to speak to the city of Denver and the rest of Colorado.”

Politics Unplugged airs Sundays at 4:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Denver7.
