DENVER – It took a few extra days to settle than most of the other races after last month’s primary, but Democrat Phil Weiser will be the candidate facing republican George Brauchler in this November’s race to be Colorado’s next Attorney General.

“I believe we need a lawyer who is going to represent the people of Colorado, protect our democracy, to stand up for people and protect our land air and water,” Weiser told Anne Trujillo on this weekend’s Politics Unplugged. “If you look around the country you see a lot of state attorneys general who are standing up for important values when you have a dysfunctional legislature in Washington, executive overreach. The attorneys generals can play a key role and this is something I want to do here in Colorado.”

Weiser has not run for elected office before this, but says he has the experience needed to be an effective Attorney General.

“I’ve worked under two administrations in the Justice Department overseeing cases, complex anti-trust cases,” he said. “I’ve also litigated cases on my own, I’ve also handled matters like contract negotiations or regulations. The Attorney General’s office does a lot different areas of legal practice. I have a background in all of them.”
