DENVER -- Cary Kennedy has spent the last couple of decades representing the people of Colorado, serving as both the State Treasurer and as Deputy Mayor and Chief Financial Officer of the City of Denver.

Now she has her sights set on becoming Colorado’s next Governor.

On this week’s Politics Unplugged, the democrat sits down with Nicole Brady to discuss many of the issues she thinks will be important during the campaign, like education.

“One of my top priorities as governor is to make sure Colorado’s public schools are among the best in the country,” Kennedy said. “We have many children growing up in Colorado who today are just simply not getting the educational opportunities they need to go on and get these high paying jobs that are coming to Colorado.”

If elected, Kennedy would be Colorado’s first female governor. While she says that would be a feather in her cap, people should not vote for her because she’s a woman, but because she’s the most qualified person for the job.

“I believe I have a lot of financial experience to this position,” Kennedy explained. “I’ve managed Colorado’s taxpayers’ money for many, many years, put our state on stronger financial footing, kept our budgets balanced. It’s that executive experience managing the state, managing the city that I will bring as Colorado’s governor.”
