DENVER — Costco is planning to open as the anchor retailer for a new retail development in Green Valley Ranch called the Flyway.

The Flyway will include a 32-acre retail town center just west of Pena Boulevard and east of Montbello.

According to a City of Denver press release, Costco alone will create 275 jobs and the entire development will create 400 jobs.

In a statement, Denver Mayor Michael Hancock said, “This is about more than just quality, good paying jobs for the neighborhood. It’s the equity these neighborhoods deserve, and the community support these families need and have been calling for.”

As more housing developments are built in northeast Denver, many residents have been hoping for more retail options.

The Flyway developers announced they hope to open the shopping center by Fall 2021, but shoppers may have to wait until spring 2022.
