DENVER - A large redevelopment project near the Denver Tech Center has taken another step forward as construction gets underway for its latest addition.
The building located at 6900 Layton Ave. is currently under construction and will include 380,000 square feet. of office space, and 16,000 square feet of space for stores and restaurants.
“We’ve got a very high-end fitness center on the ground level, with a yoga studio. We’ve got a conferencing center with a larger and smaller conference room, very high-end lobby. We’ve got a bike barn,” said Ryan Stout, the managing director for Cushman and Wakefield.
Stout said Newmont Goldcorp already plans to lease several floors of office space, and that Cushman and Wakefield are still accepting more tenants.
Jim Neenan, the CEO of the Prime West, the developer for the project, said several businesses are interested in the building due to its prime location.
“It’s the closest location in the southeast suburban market to downtown, and the southeast suburbs is our biggest market in terms office users," said Neenan.
The building is also steps away from a light rail station.
“We sit right at the tarmac of Belleview station, so it's really a multi-modal transit-oriented development," said Stout.
Neenan said the building is expected to be complete by October and tenants should be able to move in by Oct. 1.
According to Neenan, the entire redevelopment project should be complete within the next 10 to 15 years.
