DENVER -- For almost two years, the Whole Foods building in Denver's Capitol Hill neighborhood has sat vacant, but it looks like it may be coming back.
An architecture firm filed permits with the city to renovate the current building and add an eating and drinking area. They're still under review and could be changed before approval, but it's the first sign of a return, which is something people in the neighborhood are happy to see.
“It worked before. I think it was a little shortsighted to think Cap Hill residents would make the Whole Foods in LoDo or Cherry Creek their destination for groceries, and that’s probably not the fact and I think that’s probably why Whole Foods is reconsidering their decision from a couple years ago,” Travis Leiker of Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods said.
Denver7 reached out to Whole Foods and the developer as far as a construction timeline if the permit is approved, but did not hear back as of the publishing time of this article.
