DENVER -- Hilltop neighbors are upset by a proposed 27-unit condominium project that could be built on Holly Street if a zoning application is approved by the city.

Neighbors say the new development will sit on an already-busy street and will impact property value.

"They are going to tear down the only affordable housing down in the entire area,"said Denver Realtor, Denice Reich.

On Wednesday, the Denver planning board will look at a zoning application for a three-story project. Seven homeowners agreed to sell their homes where the development would will be built.

Denver7 reached out for a comment from the would-be developer and the homeowner who represents the seven homeowners, but our request was declined.

The homeowners in favor of the development claim their units require significant work for new water and sewer lines, new roofs and waterproofing. They say they’ll benefit more from selling the land for redevelopment.

On April 4, the Denver planning board plans to discuss the application and make a decision.
