A report of a shooting at a high school in Tennessee appears to have been a hoax, according to authorities.

The Kingsport Times-News reports that deputies responded to reports of a shooting at Volunteer High School in Church Hill, Tennessee Tuesday morning.

The Hawkins County School district confirmed that Volunteer High School in Tennessee was placed under lockdown shortly thereafter. Police searched for potential victims, but none were found.

Multiple law enforcement agencies are involved in an investigation to find out who made the "hoax" call.

Classes are scheduled to resume Wednesday, according to the Kingsport Times-News.
