Diawannah Corstera Thomas, 54, is accused of running over her accomplice while trying to getaway from police in northern Houston, KTRK reported.

Police told KTRK that Thomas was behind the wheel of a U-Haul vehicle, working as the getaway car while three men allegedly broke into a food mart. An off-duty officer witnessed the burglary and called for backup.

When the three men returned to the vehicle, Thomas took off driving and led police on a 25-mile chase, prosecutors said.

During the chase, one of the suspects jumped out of the moving vehicle, but was arrested by pursuing officers. Another suspect tried to jump as well, but fell and ended up being run over and killed.

Thomas, who is suspected of being drunk or high during the crime, was charged with a count of murder.

KTRK reported that Thomas is a grandmother to seven.
