DENVER – Denver’s drive-up COVID-19 testing facility will reopen Saturday, but at a new location: the Denver Coliseum, located at 4600 Humboldt Street in Denver.
The testing site will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and will be able to serve the first 100-150 people in line, the Colorado Department of Public Health said.
The CDPHE had to postpone testing at the old site, in Denver’s Lowry neighborhood, on Friday because the personal protective equipment was not rated to handle the wet snow that fell in the morning, Gov. Jared Polis said.
After Saturday, the facility will be moved from Denver to other “strategic locations throughout Colorado” in order to detect cases early in other areas that have not been stringently tested, the CDPHE said. The department will post schedules and locations on its website.
More than 650 Coloradans were tested at the Lowry site on Wednesday and Thursday. Ten presumptive positive cases were identified from the tests collected on Wednesday and other tests are still being processed.
Pitkin County is moving away from testing and into a containment phase, officials said Friday. But a drive-up center opened in Colorado Springs Friday as well at UCHealth’s site at South Parkside Drive and Kidskare Point.
National Guard members will be staffing the Denver facility Saturday and will be training people for setting up other sites, the governor said Friday
People still need to have a doctor’s note to go to the drive-up facility Saturday and need to qualify for testing.
